Maybe my feeble eyes won’t see
the harshness of Reality.
My ears refusing to ever hear
what is quiet, faint, but chilling, clear.
That discordant, haunting,
background sound
the dispiriting truth that all around?

Living souls are suffering hell
and I? Poor fool? I sense it well.
I just don’t know, how to go about
tearing, screaming, my eyeballs out.
